Iron Man 2 (2010) - Cast and Characters

As of right now Iron Man 2 is still in pre-production and as such, finalized information on featured characters and casting is unavailable. It is known that Robert Downy Jr. will return as Tony Stark for Iron Man 2, but the rest of the cast is not confirmed. It has been rumored that Samuel L. Jackson's cameo as Nick Fury in Iron Man 2 is not a throw away scene and that Nick Fury will play a further, more prominent role in Iron Man 2. Another strong possibility is the return of Terrance Howard in his role as Col. James Rhodes, who in the comic series goes on to become War Machine. In one scene in Iron Man, Col. Rhodes looks at an unpainted Mark 2 Iron Man suit and comments "next time baby". This is a strong allusion to the likely possibility that War Machine will play a part in Iron Man 2.

On the villain side, expect to see The Mandarin as the main villain. In the comic version of Iron Man, the Mandarin is a super villain who is in pursuit of "The Ten Rings", which will grant him special powers. In the film Iron Man, the terrorist group that kidnaps Tony Stark is called "The Ten Rings", a clear reference to The Mandarin, and therefor a strong hint that The Mandarin will fill the main villain role in Iron Man 2.

While this is all unofficial speculation, the hints from Iron Man would seem to point at these being likely possibilities. However, as casting and characters information becomes available, it will be posted here immediately, so check back often.
